Tummy Time

Jonah is now 1 week and 3 days old. He's got an unparalleled kung-fu grip, and has the cutest yawn I've ever seen. He also seems to be settling into a regular routine; he'll typically eat for about 30 minutes and sleep for 2-3 hours.

Erica is going great, too. She's making a somewhat speedy recovery from her C-section, and has been absolutely awesome with our little guy. When I've got to teach relatively early, she takes night duty and hasn't complained once (okay, maybe once, but I don't think she has twice).

Today was our first attempt at giving Jonah some "tummy time." The following video documents this occurrence.

Jonah Has Landed!

After a crazy couple of days, Jonah Allen Flowers is here. I'll go into detail later about why his delivery took as long as it did, but in the meantime I've put together a brief video that documents his entrance into this world.

He was born at 2:22 AM on October 3, and weighed 8lbs. 5 oz. Oh, did I mention that he's really, really ridiculously good-looking?

Stay tuned for more video of our son and his uber-cute scrunchie-faces!

Update!

UPDATE: Erica is at 3-4 cm, and has received the epidural. She's got oxygen, too. I may have called her "Darth Vader" in jest. Bad move.

Induction is Imminent!

It's 6:38 AM, and Erica will be induced around 7 or 7:30. The medication she was given last night did its job well, so everyone is ready to get this party started.

It was very comforting dozing to the sound of Jonah's heartbeat all night. Two or three different nurses checked in on E every couple of hours or so, and the sound of random doors opening and closing caused me to wake up every thirty minutes or so. Of course, what's important is that the mommy-to-be got some sleep. Apparently Ambien is some potent stuff.

Once the induction is underway, I'll be sure to post another update. Stay tuned for pictures, too!
